Who I am
This site is run by Gaz Jones Ltd, trading as ZigZag, registered in England and Wales with company number 15393565. Gaz Jones Ltd is the data controller for the information you send through this site. You can reach me at hello@byzigzag.dev.
I work with clients in the UK and Europe, so the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply to the information you send, and the EU GDPR applies too if you're in the EU.
What the enquiry form collects
When you send an enquiry, I receive:
- your name and email address
- your company and website address, if you give them
- the type of enquiry, the plan you're asking about, and your message
- for new projects, the answers you gave the estimator and the price range it showed
Why I use it
I use these details to reply to your enquiry and, if we go ahead, to prepare a quote. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Spam protection with reCAPTCHA
The contact page uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to tell real enquiries apart from automated spam. It loads only on the contact page. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and browser and sends it to Google for analysis. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Who else handles your information
- Google Workspace, which delivers and stores enquiry emails
- Vercel, which hosts this site and processes the form submission in London
- Google, which runs reCAPTCHA, and Google Analytics and Google Ads if you accept cookies
Google and Vercel are based in the US and may process information there. When they do, they rely on the safeguards UK and EU law require for international transfers, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses. I don't sell your information or share it with anyone else.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiries for 12 months unless we start working together, in which case they become part of the project records.
Cookies
Before anything from Google loads, a banner asks whether I can use cookies. If you accept, the site loads the Google tag for two things:
- Google Analytics shows me how people find and use the site: the pages they visit, where they came from, the device they use and roughly where they are.
- Google Ads shows me when someone who clicked one of my ads goes on to send an enquiry.
Both measure only. Neither builds advertising audiences or personalises the ads you see. The lawful basis is your consent. If you decline, nothing from Google loads.
Your answer is kept in your browser for six months, then the banner asks again. To change it, use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. If you withdraw, the Google tag's cookies on this site are deleted.
reCAPTCHA may set cookies on the contact page so it can work.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your information, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how I use it. Email hello@byzigzag.dev and I'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you're in the EU, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
